On March 15th, Forbush Elementary held its first Scholastic Chess Tournament. There were 3 Sections: K-3, K-5 and K-8. The K-3 was won by Jessica Williams (Yadkin Chess Club) with Alex Van Buskirk coming in second. In the K-5 Section, Michael Gmeiner (Yadkin Chess Club) took First Place (4 out of 4) with Alex Flores and Blake Todd (Forbush Elementary Chess Club) tieing for second and David Boyer placing third. The K-8 Section was a clean sweep for Abby Matthews (Fall Creek Elementary Chess Club) placing First and Eddie Rufe (Fall Creek Elementary Chess Club) coming in second and Christine Williams (Forbush Elementary Chess Club) a close third.

Congratulations to all the players who participated and did their best!

Suzanne "I'll move next year" Kelly has been having a great success with the kids at Forbush Elementary last week I counted 16 kids at her Chess Club.  We are already having her kids come to Yadkin Chess Club.  I can see these kids growing up playing chess and feeding into our local chess organizations.  Its going to be great.  If you want to come and play chess with the kids you can call Suzanne at home or at the school at 336-699-8447 or you can e-mail her at skelly2@triad.rr.com    I am sure you will be more than welcome.
